Tutoring in Pairs or Small Groups:

Sometimes sibling rivalry is a good thing.  One of Michael DiSalvo's must successful pairs of students started being tutored together before schedules did not allow group sessions.  The first sister's scoring in the 99th percentile on her ACT was soon followed by the younger sister's scoring in the 99th percentile on her PSAT , becoming a National Merit Scholar.  Other siblings may need one-on-one tutoring from day one, and some indeed have at least as successful from the very start in getting  individualed help.

So, while personalized lessons on an individual basis are really ideal and can almost always fit a busy students schedule, many families with more flexibility and children of a similar age or ability level can really benefit from being put together in a given lesson.

In short, group tutoring, whether in pairs or in threes, can give the benefits of individualized tutoring, yet get results at about 1/2 the cost. As in all group arrangments, it is best to test for chemistry in an initial session before deciding whether group tutoring is the best arrangement.  Please call us about what sort of tutoring may be right for you.  Friends, family, and acquaintances are the usual choices when getting together a small group.  A classrrom or seminar situation is another option for students looking for something different.
